The 2006 boys hit their stride in a big way coming into the Detroit, MI showcase. With their first match up against powerhouse Belle Tire, the team threw the whole arsenal at them with a convincing 6-1 win led by Brady Krizizke who potted 4 goals for the club. This is what you would call a "signature" win for a team that sets them up to thrive the rest of the showcase, and they did just that. Familiar foe Fox Motors, determined to beat the MJA 2006 squad for the first time this year, gave the squad alot to handle but were still unsuccessful with a great game in net by Logan Korhonen and a late game tying snipe from silky defensive talent Grant Hansen .

The 2006's battled the next game handing the loss to the Troy Sting in the form of a 1-0 Shut-out by goaltender Sam Ahl with the game winner coming from Murphy "The Terminator" Monreal. Murph was determined to grab some bragging rights to show older brother Matt Monreal who was playing with the U-18 team 30 minutes up the road.

The boys got back on track with the offense, taking down Tr-State Spartans 4-2, setting them up with a championship winner take all game against TPH Thunder.

What happens when you put two undefeated teams together for a chance for 1st place hardware at 8:30am in the morning? Well, you get some tired hockey players on their 5th game of the weekend. The team that keeps it simple and makes the least mistakes usually wins, and thats exactly what the MJA team accomplished. Led by forward Jordan Morency with 2 goals and Will Merrick tallying 3 points, the team went on a tear snatching up their first showcase championship in a tremendous fashion.

Smiles and high fives carried the boys into the holiday break! Congrats to the 2006 team and good luck the rest of the way!
