12U Girls Head Coach
Coach Brian VanSaun has been involved with ice hockey for over 40 years, having grown up in Colorado playing Mite through Varsity High School hockey.
He made the transition to coaching when his kids hit the ice and has has spent the last 8 years coaching his 3 daughters Emily, Ashley and Grace at Arrowhead Youth Hockey Association in Hartland, WI.
Brian is a USA Hockey Certified Level 4 Coach and is fortunate to have had his coaching experience primarily focused around girls hockey. His 2 oldest daughters spent the past 2024-2025 season playing Tier1 AAA hockey for the Milwaukee Junior Admirals 12U and 14U Girls teams. He is now looking forward to coaching his youngest daughter Grace at the Tier1 AAA level.
His coaching approach for the MJA 12U Girls will center around development and reinforcement of proper fundamental skills and concepts, as well as focus on hard work, compete, grit and resiliency needed to compete at an elite AAA level. In addition, he believes it is critical to foster a positive and encouraging team culture and stresses the importance of playing through adversity and winning/losing as a team.
Coach VanSaun brings years of experience coaching girls hockey and believes in the importance of girls competing with and against each other in order to grow their love of the game.
