In this first edition of the "Where Are They Now" series, we want to identify a few MJA Alumni that are preparing to start their 2018-2019 hockey season at the junior and collegiate levels. Although there are many MJA Alumni all over the hockey world, this series will spotlight only a few with each article.

Former MJA goaltender Joey Lamoreaux (1999) will be starting his second season with the Madison Capitals of the USHL. After being selected by Madison with the 89th overall pick in the 2016 USHL Phase II draft, Joey finished up his rookie season in Madison with 17 games played and an .898 SV%. Joey will be returning to Madison and is expected to take on a much larger role as the club's #1 goaltender.

Joining Joey in Madison will be former MJA defenseman Sam Miller (1999). Sam played his rookie season in Merritt of the BCHL where he finished with 3G, 9A and 20 PIM's in 50 games played. Sam's summer included being the first ever draft pick by the Chippewa Steel of the NAHL when they took him with the #4 overall pick in the 2018 NAHL draft. Sam was also taken with the #127 overall pick by Madison in the USHL Phase II draft, which is where he will start his sophomore season of junior hockey. Joey and Sam will kick off their regular season on September 27th when Madison takes on Des Moines at the USHL Fall Classic in Pittsburgh, PA.

At the collegiate hockey level, MJA is proud to announce that Brandon Turer (1998) will be playing the upcoming season for his hometown Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders. At the conclusion of his long MJA career, Brandon traveled to Bedford, MA to play for the East Coast Wizards of the EHL. After his one and only junior season, which included 44 games played with 8G, 20A and 12 PIM's, Brandon accepted his opportunity to move on to the NCAA-D3 rank.

Joining Brandon at the NCAA-D3 level is his former MJA teammate, defenseman Brendan Elliott (1998). Brendan played both of his midget major seasons with the MJA program before starting his junior career in the NOJHL. At the conclusion of his 2017-2018 season with the Northern Cyclones of the USPHL, Brendan accepted his opportunity to play his college hockey for the Golden Gusties of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN.

We look forward to providing alumni updates throughout the upcoming season as we work to develop and promote more of our current players. We wish our MJA alumni all the best in the 2018-2019 hockey season!
